Wood-Kare supplied OTTER Metal Rust & Wood Paint in Gold and Wood-Kare Aqua Ultra Semi-Transparent Stain in Light Brown for refurbishment works at The Royal Museum, Jalan Istana, Kuala Lumpur.

Formerly the National Palace and official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, this historic property stands on approximately 13 acres at Bukit Petaling, overlooking the Klang River.

Being part of the refurbishment of such a significant heritage property demonstrates how the right coating solutions can help refresh, enhance and maintain both metal and timber surfaces while respecting the character of the building.

Project: The Royal Museum (Former National Palace), Jalan Istana, Kuala Lumpur

Products: OTTER Metal Rust & Wood Paint & Wood-Kare Aqua Ultra Semi-Transparent Stain

Colours: Gold & Light Brown

Application: Refurbishment of Metal & Wooden Surfaces

Project Type: Heritage / Institutional Building

Refurbishing a Significant Malaysian Landmark

The former National Palace is an important part of Malaysia's architectural and royal heritage.

For refurbishment works, different surfaces required different coating solutions. Wood-Kare supplied two products specifically suited to the metal and timber applications within the project.

OTTER Metal Rust & Wood Paint – Gold

OTTER Metal Rust & Wood Paint in Gold was supplied for suitable metal surfaces as part of the refurbishment works.

The Gold finish provides a distinctive decorative appearance appropriate for selected architectural metal features, while the coating offers practical protection for properly prepared surfaces.

Key features include 2-in-1 primer and top coat, anti-rust and corrosion protection, water-based formulation, low odour, UV and water resistance, and easy application.

Aqua Ultra Semi-Transparent Stain – Light Brown

For timber surfaces, Wood-Kare Aqua Ultra Semi-Transparent Stain in Light Brown was supplied to refresh the wood while maintaining its natural character.

Unlike an opaque paint that completely covers the timber, the semi-transparent wood stain allows the natural wood grain to remain visible while adding a warm Light Brown tone.

This makes Aqua UST particularly suitable for architectural timber where retaining the appearance and character of real wood is important.

The Right Coating for Different Surfaces

Refurbishment projects often involve more than one type of material.

For The Royal Museum project, Wood-Kare was able to provide solutions for both:

Metal surfaces → OTTER Metal Rust & Wood Paint – Gold

Timber surfaces → Wood-Kare Aqua UST – Light Brown

This combination allows different architectural elements to be refreshed using coating systems suited to their respective surfaces.
